TOURNAMENT SCENARIOs

Ball for Play:

The Franklin X40 ball will be used for tournament game play.

Coin Toss:

Whoever wins the coin toss, there are three options to choose from. Once the winner of the coin toss makes a choice, the other team captain will make their choice and then back to the winner of the coin toss, etc. until all choices have been made.
  • Choose Home (home team reacts to visitor team’s mixed lineup)
  • Choose Away (away team reacts to home team’s singles dreambreaker lineup)
  • Choose Serve, Side (aka which end of the court to start on) or Receive

Scoring:

2 Rules to Win:

  1. You must have SERVED to win the game.
  2. You must win by two.

There is no “freeze” at any time. The only time a team does not score is if the
receiving team wins the rally and it would give them the point to win.

Review of Rules:

  1. This is TEAM Pickleball! It’s time to have fun, cheer, high five and engage with your team. However . . . read rules 2-4.
  2. Only players on the court may have player communication, call faults and in/out calls. No teammate, coach or spectator may influence line or fault calls or any actions of a rally.
  3. Coaching and cheering is allowed only IN BETWEEN rallies. Coaching is not allowed while the ball is live and in play. Coaching may not delay the game, otherwise, a time out shall be called.
  4. If a player, coach or fan influences a rally by coaching, yelling in or out, or influences a playing player while the ball is live and in play, that team will lose said rally.

Format Review:

  1. Regardless of outcome, all 4 games in a match are played in Round Robin. (both gender doubles and both mixed games). If there is a tie and the teams go 2-2 in the match, then a Dreambreaker is played to determine the match winner. Remember, each team only has ONE minute to determine their singles line up and only TWO minutes of warm up time.
  2. Once BRACKET PLAYOFFS start, if a team wins the first 3 games, that match is completed. A team that wins 3-0 shall not play the 4th game.
  3. All games are played sequentially: women’s, then men’s, then 1st mixed, then 2nd mixed all on ONE court.
  4. 1 timeout per game, per team in addition to the end change timeout. Timeouts are ONLY ONE MINUTE LONG.
  5. Once a match starts, there are ONLY TWO minutes in between all games. No additional warm up times are allotted.
  6. Stay on TIME. Move games along.
